WPM: Meet Stephanie Cooper

Wealth Preservation / 07 January 2022

My parents were both engineers, but that gene seems to have skipped me entirely.

When I chose to read  law at University, I knew I could see myself working in the industry, but I wasn’t sure which area most appealed to me. After completing the Legal Practice Course, my chosen area was further muddied, as I enjoyed it all! I eventually began working in a Wealth Preservation firm, where I quickly realised that Wealth Preservation is highly personal and I found it deeply gratifying to be involved in planning estates and helping people to achieve their generational goals. The various assets people acquire during their life inevitably means I also touch on other areas of the law, which add extra layers of complexity.

The most memorable client I had owned Bitcoin and had very specific funeral wishes- they wanted to be buried at sea and had done extensive research on the various locations, costs and licences needed.

I joined the Wealth Preservation department at Greenwoods GRM in October 2021 and every day I am excited to face new challenges and expand my comfort zone. Highly experienced and knowledgeable people surround me, and I am extremely lucky to work in a friendly and supportive environment where I am encouraged to be the best that I can be. The most enjoyable part of my role is dealing with people, in whatever capacity, the variety that it brings and the fact that no two days are the same.

Outside of work, I am part of a netball club where I have learned many skills including teamwork, accountability, and resilience. I am also competitive and sports nurtures that side of me. Pre-pandemic I spent most weekends doing something completely different. I enjoy hiking with my dog, going to concerts and attending some form of art exhibition.

Most recently I visited the Yayoi Kusama infinity mirror rooms and saw the ‘Northern Lights’ in North Greenwich. I am especially looking forward to attending more exhibitions in 2022 and returning to a sense of normality. In addition, I made a resolution to volunteer more and give back to the community and this is a goal I am especially excited to meet in 2022 and onwards.
