Chartered Legal Executive
Ellen appreciates that clients can find planning for the future a daunting prospect but prides herself on supporting them through this crucial process.
Ellen, a Chartered Legal Executive, has over seven years’ experience of advising on private client matters. Her expertise saw her admitted as a Fellow of the Charted Institute of Legal Executives in 2019.
Ellen is based in our Cambridge office. Her work includes preparing and advising clients on the most appropriate Will and related estate planning, preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney and acting for both professional and lay trustees in the administration of a variety of trusts. Ellen also understands the issues faced by clients when administering estates. As a result, Ellen delivers clear and accessible advice on a wide variety of estate matters.
Ellen is currently undertaking the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Diploma in Trusts and Estates and is well on her way to achieving this prestigious internationally-recognised qualification.
In her spare time, Ellen is a keen cyclist and enjoys spectating and participating in road cycling.
Recent work has included:
- Advising clients in the administration of an estate valued in excess of £8m which included heritage property of significant national interest.
- Advising clients with an estate valued in excess of £9m, across three jurisdictions, including Wills, IHT planning and lifetime gifting.
- Advising clients in the administration of an estate and making successful applications to HMRC to claim the residence nil rate band (RNRB) and transferable RNRB and gifts out of excess income. Further advising the clients in mitigating the inheritance tax liability of the estate by the preparation of a deed of variation.
