Have your cake and eat it! City work with a Regional lifestyle
Our Trainee Solicitor Ollie Clymow explains why Greenwoods GRM is a great place for a legal trainee
From the start of their training contracts, our trainees are given the opportunity to get involved with complex and large-scale transactions.
For example, through a corporate & commercial perspective, I’ve had the opportunity to work with clients on a range of matters and transactions, including: corporate demergers, share and asset disposals and acquisitions, preparing shareholders’ agreements and implementing capital reductions. From a wider perspective, trainees are given a broad degree of exposure to a range of clients
covering individuals, charities and international companies.
Every day is different and this keeps trainees on their toes and always ready to approach new challenges.
If you’re looking for a training contract that really gives you the chance to get ‘stuck in’ to the work, then Greenwoods GRM is the place for you!
Greenwoods GRM offers its trainees the opportunity to invest time in their own personal development and the development of the firm as a whole.
Such personal and practice development is engrained into Greenwoods GRM trainees in a number of ways. Trainees are actively encouraged to get ‘out and about’ to meet with potential clients and bolster their contact lists. For example, I’ve recently arranged to meet the owner of a start-up company based in Cambridge for coffee and a catch-up and was actively encouraged by my supervisor to do so.
Creating the ideal conditions for individuals to succeed is key. I’ve been given the opportunity to act as the Corporate & Commercial lead for our manufacturing sector work. This has given me the exciting and challenging opportunity to really get to grips with a dynamic and evolving legal sector, which is a hugely rewarding experience.
Greenwoods GRM offers trainees the freedom to explore the industries and sectors that they find most appealing and encourages them to enhance their experience and reputation in those areas.
As Greenwoods GRM has a strong London presence, with an office based in the heart of Bedford Row, this will open up further opportunities for new trainees. With a significant amount of work coming from the London market, our trainees get the chance to cut their teeth working with both regional and city clients.
Trainees are encouraged to visit the London and Cambridge offices to meet with clients in those locations. I’ve recently been in London for a meeting with a client looking to expand its business nationally.
Following qualification, a number of previous trainees now practice from our London and Cambridge offices. This gives trainees the opportunity to experience working life and culture in a range of different locations.
Trainees are given the chance to join the firm’s football, cricket and netball teams. This provides a great way to interact with others in the firm and get to know other young professionals.
There are also drinks evenings and dinners which trainees are encouraged to attend (not that much encouragement is required)! Ultimately, Greenwoods GRM lawyers pride themselves on being ‘lawyers you’ll enjoy working with’ and this is something that trainees are encouraged to embrace.
So get your application in and I hope to meet you soon.
